چکیده
Malassezia spp. are commensal lipo-dependent yeasts colonizing sebum-rich regions of the human skin. Usually harmless, sometimes become involved in skin disorders such as pityriasis versicolor (PV), dandruff, folliculitis, psoriasis, but also seborrheic and atopic dermatitis. However, their precise role these pathologies remains poorly understood. In PV, overproliferate exhibit phenotypic changes. From a round or oval shape, filamentous structures named hyphae develop invade cornified layer epidermis. This fungal overload epidermal invasion lead to pigmentation defaults itching. Even if topical application antifungal agents is usually effective, relapse common resistant strains appear. Better characterization infection processes set up by needed for development new therapeutic strategies. this study, molecular mechanisms underlying hyphal production investigated. To aim, we developed an vitro model on reconstructed epidermis (RHE) furfur. After olive oil pre-treatment over RHE, inoculum topically applied, maintained four days. We highlight differences various M. furfur regard ability produce course infection. CBS 7019 6000 that tissue, leading alteration barrier, revealed with Lucifer Yellow assay, mRNA overexpression keratinocytes pro-inflammatory cytokines (e.g. IL-1α), well antimicrobial peptides hBD2). contrast, 14141 do not undergo phenotypical changes grow at tissue surface without altering tissue. Altogether, results provide adequate tool understand initiation infection, invasiveness between strains.

Natural Oils Enhance IL-10 and IFN-γ Production by Human PBMCs Cultured with Malassezia furfur
Background: Malassezia furfur is alipophilic yeast that causes skin disease. Objective: To evaluate the level of IL-10, IFN-γ and IL-12P70 in co-incubation of M. furfur grown on different forms of natural oils with PBMCs of healthy individuals. Methods: PBMCs were obtained from blood samples of normal volunteers. M. furfur was cultured in different culture media containing almond oil, fish oil,...
متن کاملMalassezia Furfur in Malaysia
An in-house prepared M. furfur antigen was used to carry out a seroprevalence study in an urban population in Malaysia by indirect immunofluorescence assay. Of the 800 serum samples from all ages screened, 738 samples were positive for M. furfur specific IgG, giving an overall seropositive rate of 92.3%. There was no significant difference in the seropositive rates among the different gender gr...

Anti-Malassezia furfur monospecific polyclonal antibodies was produced by repeated immunization of rabbit with Malassezia furfur yeast cells mixed with Freud adjuvant. The antibody titres of respective rabbit's serum samples prior to and after each immunization against M. furfur were assayed by indirect immunofluorescence technique using the M. furfur whole yeast antigen fixed in Teflon coated ...
متن کاملDifferent utilization of neutral lipids by Malassezia furfur and Malassezia sympodialis.
In recent years, the genus Malassezia has been expanded based on molecular data; in addition to M. furfur and M. pachydermatis, five new species (M. sympodialis, M. globosa, M. obtusa, M. restricta, M. slooffiae) have been described. Apart from their lipid dependence, little is known about the metabolism and nutritional requirements of these new species. Defined inocula of Malassezia reference ...

Background: Tinea versicolor (TV) is common superficial fungal infection of the human skin characterized by scaling macula and mild disturbance of skin observed as pigmented and depigmented regions. Typically, it affects the chest, upper back, neck and shoulders. However, rarely, involvement of other unusual regions of the body such as the scalp and face, arms and legs, palms and soles, groin, ...
